Problem

Problem: Butterflies of North America setup won't install automatically.

First, try to run setup.exe on the CD-ROM. (Start, Run, d:/setup.exe). If this fails, then:

To install manually:

Problem: The Butterflies of North America setup fails and says please report to Microsoft Product Support Services. Or a cryptic message is displayed and stops the install.

 To install manually:

Butterflies of North America (a Microsoft Viewer Title) which will not automatically install.
  1. Place the CD in the CDROM drive.
  2. Go to Explore (right click Start button, click Explore)
  3. Find the CDROM drive (If the Butterflies of North America disc is in it will show Bflyna100)
  4. Double Click this to open it.
  5. Find a file called Mviewer2 in the file list. It may say Mviewer2.exe if you have configured Explorer to show extensions.
  6. Right click on that file and select Send To >> Desktop (as shortcut)
  7. Now, close your windows and find the new icon on the desktop called Shortcut to Mviewer2.exe.
  8. Right click on that, find and select Properties
  9. Click on the Shortcut Tab - Find Target which will have D:\MVIEWER2.EXE in it assuming your CDROM drive is D:
  10. At the end of that, add a space and then type d:\butter\butter.mvb so that the final box contains: D:MVIEWER2.EXE d:\butter\butter.mvb
  11. Click OK.
  12. Right Click the desktop icon again, select Rename and name it Butterflies!
Thereafter, double-clicking on that icon will start the program provided the CD-ROM is in the indicated CDROM drive.
