Contained on Agri/Stats I CD-ROM (published October 1988) are the following eight public databases from the Agricultural Statistics Service (USDA):
County Estimates - Crops
County, crop reporting district, and state annual estimates by commodity for acreage, yield, production, and irrigation-cultivation practices for selected crops from 1972 to mid 1988.
Grain Stock
State and national quarterly estimates of grains and oilseed crops stored on farms and in off-farm storage. Commodities included are corn, soybeans, all wheat, durum wheat, oats, barley, rye, flaxseed, and sunflower. On-farm data available from 1974 to mid 1988, off-farm data from 1978 to mid 1988.
Crop Estimates
State and national annual estimates by commodity for acreage, yield, and production from 1939 to mid 1988. Commodities included are corn, soybeans, wheat, sorghum, oats, and barley. In addition, field crops, potatoes, seeds, citrus fruits, non-citrus fruits, and nuts are included from 1969 to mid 1988.
County Estimates - Livestock
County, crop reporting district, and state estimates for all cattle, beef cows, milk cows, milk production, all hogs, pigs saved, all sheep, stock sheep, cattle on feed inventory, fed cattle marketed, all chickens inventory, and eggs produced from 1975 to mid 1988.
Hog and Pig Estimates
State and national estimates on hog and pig inventory, number by classes, sows farrowed, pigs per litter, and pig crop from 1969 to mid 1988.
Cattle on Feed
Estimates for the 7 states measured monthly and 13 states measured quarterly on number of cattle on feed by classes and weight-groups, placements, marketings and other disappearance from 1969 to mid 1988.
Cattle Inventory
State and national estimates on cattle inventory for number of cattle, beef cows, bulls, heifers and steers over 500 pounds, beef, milk and other replacement heifers, calves under 500 pounds, and calf crop from 1970 to mid 1988.
Corn Production - 42 African Countries
These data from the USDA Economic Research Service include corn production, area, stocks, imports/exports, use, official pricing and population for each of 42 African Countries. Covers 1966 to mid 1988.
Agri/Stats I is delivered on CD-ROM. It requires: IBM PC or compatible, a CD-ROM drive, MS-DOS 3.1, 3.3+ and MS-DOS CD-ROM Extensions, and 256K RAM available. A hard drive is not required, but is recommended.
